As a Washington DC couples photographer, some sessions stop you in your tracks. This was absolutely one of them.
I had the incredible joy of photographing my best friend of 23 years, Courtney, and her amazing partner, Anthony, right in the heart of the nation’s capital. Even though I have shot in Washington DC many times, this session felt different. It felt personal in a way that I will carry with me for a very long time.

Washington DC Couples Photographer at the Lincoln Memorial
We started our morning at the Lincoln Memorial. The light was soft and cinematic, wrapping around the marble steps in the most beautiful way. Courtney and Anthony moved through that space like they owned it. Their laughter echoed off the columns. Their connection was impossible not to photograph. I just kept pressing the shutter because every single frame was giving me something real.

Constitution Gardens: A Hidden DC Gem
From there, we wandered over to Constitution Gardens, tucked just behind the Reflecting Pool. This spot is one of my absolute favorites in the entire city. It is quiet, lush, and feels completely removed from the bustle of the Mall. The willow trees swayed above them as they danced and embraced and just existed together. It was exactly the kind of authentic energy I love to document as a Washington DC couples photographer.

Why This Session Meant Everything
Photographing someone you have known for over two decades is a true gift. Because of that shared history, I showed up not just as a photographer but as someone who genuinely loves these two people. As a result, every image from this session feels completely real and full of life. That is always the goal.
